Love Your Block Installation Day

  • December 02, 2012
  • 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Caroline @ Southmore
Note New Date/Time for Installation of plants purchased with 'Love Your Block Grant' is December 2 at 2:00 p.m.

A spirit of neighborhood volunteerism and perhaps a bit of sweat are all that are required on Sunday afternoon, December 2, beginning at 2:00 p.m., to assist with the installation of landscaping items acquired through the Love Your Block Grant.

MPNA's Beautification Committee headed by Kathleen O'Reilly secured the Grant Award last June through application to the Mayor's Volunteer Initiative Program sponsored by the City of Houston and the Home Depot Foundation.  The Beautification Committee has received input from both the Houston Parks Department and professional landscape designers to incorporate the plantings secured through the Grant into the Rice Design Alliance Charrette model for the Museum Park Neighborhood.  The goal is that this initial planting can serve as a model for future esplanade landscaping.

The $500 Grant in the form of materials from Home Depot requires neighborhood volunteer support to complete the project.  Mark your calendar for December 2 and meet at Caroline and Southmore at 2:00 p.m. to help make our vision for a more beautiful neighborhood a reality.
